John de Forest came from Troy, New York, lived for many years in New York City, and now lives in San Francisco. He was educated in public schools in Troy and nearby Lansingburg, at the Phillips Exeter Academy, Yale University, and New York University's Institute of Film and Television. His most recent studies have been at the Voice One studio, in San Francisco.
